PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY BEFORE DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, ACCESSING, OR USING FILEEN. THESE TERMS CONSTITUTE A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE PERSON WHO USES FILEEN AND THE APPLICATION PROVIDER IDENTIFIED ON FILEEN'S APP STORE PRODUCT PAGE. BY DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, OPENING, ACCESSING, OR USING FILEEN, OR BY SELECTING AN INTERFACE CONTROL THAT INDICATES ACCEPTANCE, THE USER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE USER HAS READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREED TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS, THE FILEEN PRIVACY POLICY, THE FILEEN COPYRIGHT AND ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY, AND THE APPLICABLE APPLE LICENSE AND USAGE RULES. A PERSON WHO DOES NOT AGREE TO ALL APPLICABLE TERMS MUST NOT INSTALL, ACCESS, OR USE FILEEN.
These Terms are written in a detailed form because Fileen can interact with files, websites, direct links, media, storage locations, system permissions, and third-party services selected by the user. The availability of a technical function does not by itself establish that a particular use of that function is authorized, lawful, safe, suitable, or permitted by the owner of content or by the operator of a source service. The user remains responsible for the files, links, destinations, permissions, and uses selected by the user.
Fileen is licensed and provided by the person or legal entity identified by Apple as the seller or application provider on Fileen's App Store product page, referred to in these Terms as the "Application Provider," "Developer," "Fileen," "we," "us," or "our." The person who downloads, installs, accesses, or uses Fileen is referred to as "you" or the "user." The contact address for support and legal notices is dev@fileen.net. The seller identity displayed in the App Store and the contact details stated in these Terms should be read together when determining the party responsible for providing Fileen.
Apple is not the provider of Fileen and, except to the extent expressly stated in Apple's applicable terms, is not responsible for the application, its content, maintenance, support, warranties, claims, or operation. The Application Provider, and not Apple, is responsible for Fileen subject to these Terms and applicable law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to reduce any obligation that Apple requires the Application Provider to assume under the applicable App Store agreement.
Fileen is a licensed application distributed through the App Store. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with the App Store Usage Rules and other mandatory Apple terms applicable to the acquisition and use of a licensed application, applies to Fileen unless a valid custom license is presented through Apple. These Terms supplement, and do not replace, the Apple license. If a conflict arises concerning a matter that Apple requires to be governed by the Apple license, the Apple license controls to the extent of that conflict. On all other matters, these Terms govern the relationship between the user and the Application Provider.
The license granted under these Terms is conditioned on compliance with the applicable Usage Rules. Fileen may be used only on Apple-branded products that the user owns or controls, or as otherwise permitted by Apple's Usage Rules and any applicable family-sharing or volume-purchase provisions. The user acknowledges that Apple and its subsidiaries may be third-party beneficiaries of these Terms to the extent required by the Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and may enforce the applicable provisions after the user's acceptance.
The user's acquisition or continued use of Fileen constitutes acceptance of these Terms to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Acceptance may occur by downloading the application, launching it after the Terms are made available, selecting an acceptance control, using a feature, or retaining and using the application after a revised version becomes effective. If applicable law requires a separate affirmative act for a material revision, Fileen will use a reasonable method to request that act before the revision is applied to the user.
These Terms apply to the current version of Fileen and to updates, upgrades, replacements, components, documentation, and services supplied by the Application Provider that supplement or replace it, unless the relevant item is accompanied by separate terms. Certain features may display additional conditions at the time of use. Those feature-specific conditions are incorporated into these Terms for that feature, and, if they directly conflict with a general provision, the more specific condition controls to the extent of the conflict.
Fileen is made available only to a person who has attained at least sixteen years of age and who possesses the legal capacity necessary to enter into and comply with these Terms. By downloading, installing, opening, accessing, or using Fileen, the user represents and warrants, on each occasion of use, that the user has reached the age of sixteen, that the user is not prohibited by applicable law from using the application, and that the user is legally capable of assuming the obligations stated in these Terms. The fact that Fileen is displayed as available for download, can technically be installed on a device, or carries a particular App Store content rating does not constitute a representation that every person who can access the product page is legally eligible to enter into this agreement.
The App Store age rating is a content-classification and distribution mechanism established by Apple. It does not determine contractual capacity, override the law of a user's place of residence, replace any legally required age-assurance or consent procedure, or reduce a higher minimum age imposed by a specific law, service, source website, file host, educational institution, employer, device owner, or other authority applicable to the user. If the law or binding rule applicable to the user requires the user to be older than sixteen, to obtain authorization, or to satisfy another condition before using an unrestricted web browser, downloading files, entering an agreement, or processing particular content, the higher age or additional condition applies.
A person who has not attained the applicable minimum age or who lacks the necessary legal capacity must not install, access, or use Fileen and must not attempt to avoid a restriction by providing inaccurate information, using another person's device or account, or relying on the absence of a Fileen account-registration screen. Fileen does not create a general user account and does not ordinarily request a date of birth; the absence of an account or routine age-verification process is not a waiver of the eligibility requirement. The Application Provider may restrict access to a feature or discontinue access where there is a reasonable basis to believe that the eligibility requirements are not satisfied or that continued use would create a legal, security, or platform-compliance risk.
Subject to compliance with these Terms, the applicable Apple license, and applicable law, the Application Provider grants the user a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use Fileen for the user's lawful personal or internal purposes on devices permitted by Apple's Usage Rules. Fileen is licensed, not sold. The license does not transfer ownership of Fileen, its software, interface, design, documentation, trademarks, code, databases, or other intellectual property.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved by the Application Provider and its licensors. Except where applicable law expressly prohibits a restriction or an open-source license grants a separate right, the user may not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, assign, make available as a hosted service, modify, translate, adapt, create a derivative work from, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, extract source code from, bypass, tamper with, or attempt to discover the internal operation of Fileen. The user may not remove proprietary notices or use Fileen's name, icon, interface, or branding in a manner that suggests affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement without written authorization.
Fileen is a general-purpose file-management, direct-link downloading, browsing, document and media viewing, playback, conversion, compression, trimming, archiving, and metadata utility. Particular functions may vary by version, device model, operating-system version, file format, codec, available storage, hardware capability, system permission, geographic location, App Store availability, and technical or legal restrictions. A description, screenshot, demonstration, or listing does not guarantee that every function will operate with every file or source.
The ordinary architecture of Fileen is local-first. Files and associated activity are generally kept within locations controlled through the user's device, and ordinary media-processing operations are designed to occur on the device. Fileen does not provide a Fileen cloud account or a general server-side backup of the user's files in the current release. The user is solely responsible for maintaining independent backups of important content, for understanding whether a location selected through Files is local or cloud-backed, and for confirming that an operation has completed correctly before deleting an original.
As between the user and the Application Provider, the user retains whatever rights the user lawfully holds in User Content. Fileen does not claim ownership of a user's local files merely because the files are managed, viewed, played, converted, compressed, renamed, moved, or stored through the application. The user grants the Application Provider no license to use the content of local files except the limited technical permission inherent in causing Fileen, on the device, to perform the operation expressly requested by the user.
The user represents and warrants that the user has the rights, permissions, authority, and lawful basis necessary to possess, access, download, copy, convert, alter, store, export, share, or otherwise use each item of User Content in the manner selected by the user. The user is responsible for determining whether a file contains confidential, personal, regulated, privileged, export-controlled, proprietary, harmful, infringing, unlawful, or otherwise restricted material. Fileen does not review the user's local library, determine ownership, verify a license, provide legal clearance, or guarantee that an intended use is permitted.
The user must take reasonable precautions before deleting, replacing, overwriting, compressing, converting, trimming, renaming, moving, extracting, or modifying a file. Output may differ in quality, metadata, synchronization state, compatibility, color, duration, size, orientation, codec, or other characteristics from the original. The user should retain an original copy until the output has been examined and verified.
Fileen may permit the user to paste, enter, open, or otherwise supply a direct link and to request the resource identified by that link. The function is provided as a general technical capability for lawful resources. It is not a representation that every address accessible through the internet may lawfully be downloaded, copied, converted, stored, or redistributed. The existence of a direct or technically reachable URL does not establish that the user has permission to use the resource, that the source service authorizes downloading, or that the content is free of intellectual-property, privacy, contractual, security, or other restrictions.
The user may use Fileen to download only material that the user owns, that is in the public domain, that is distributed under a license permitting the user's intended use, that the relevant rights holder has expressly authorized, or that the source service expressly makes available for the user's authorized download. The user must comply with the source's terms, technical limitations, attribution requirements, access conditions, geographic restrictions, account rules, and revocation of permission. Fileen is not a search engine for a particular media platform and must not be used as a means of obtaining media in violation of the terms or technical controls of a third-party service.
The user must not use Fileen to capture, extract, record, save, convert, or redistribute audio, video, documents, or other content from a third-party service unless the service and the applicable rights holder expressly authorize that action. A statement by the user that the user assumes responsibility does not create authorization and does not require the Application Provider to enable, maintain, or support a method that presents an infringement or platform-compliance risk.
The user may not use Fileen, alone or with another tool, script, service, credential, cookie, proxy, automation system, or modified device, to circumvent or attempt to circumvent digital rights management, encryption, authentication, paywalls, subscription checks, geographic controls, access restrictions, rate limits, signed-link restrictions, token expiration, copy controls, stream protections, robots rules, device limitations, or any other technical measure used to control access to or use of content or a service. The user may not manipulate a request, impersonate another client, conceal the origin of access, or reuse credentials or session material without authorization.
If Fileen restricts a source, link type, protocol, domain, file operation, or method because of a legal, contractual, security, technical, App Store, or rights-management concern, the user must not evade the restriction. The Application Provider may change, disable, or remove a capability without notice where reasonably necessary to comply with law, a source's express restrictions, Apple requirements, or a good-faith rights or security concern.
Fileen may include a browser or web view that permits unrestricted access to websites selected by the user. The browser is a general access tool and does not make Fileen the publisher, owner, operator, moderator, or endorser of a website. A website may display content that is inaccurate, offensive, unlawful, malicious, age-restricted, deceptive, or unsuitable, and may collect information or place cookies under its own policy. The Application Provider does not control the website and is not responsible for its content, availability, security, advertising, transactions, or privacy practices.
The user is responsible for evaluating a website before entering credentials, downloading a file, accepting a permission, making a payment, or relying on information. The user must comply with the website's terms and must not use Fileen to probe, scrape, overload, automate, interfere with, or gain unauthorized access to a website, account, network, or system. Fileen may open a website in an embedded view or may transfer the user to another browser or application; either method remains subject to the third party's own terms.
Fileen may provide local tools that play, convert, compress, trim, mute, extract, resize, rotate, package, or otherwise process compatible content. These tools are convenience utilities and are not professional archival, mastering, forensic, medical, legal, evidentiary, or preservation services. Processing may cause a loss of quality, metadata, edit history, timing precision, transparency, color information, audio channels, subtitles, attachments, accessibility data, or compatibility. File formats and codecs may contain undocumented or proprietary features that Fileen cannot preserve.
The user must inspect the output and must not rely on Fileen as the sole repository of an original. The Application Provider does not warrant that a conversion will be identical, reversible, accepted by a particular device or service, or suitable for a particular legal, professional, or evidentiary purpose. Fileen may refuse an operation, use a different method, or produce no output where the file is corrupted, unsupported, encrypted, too large, subject to insufficient storage, or incompatible with the device.
Fileen may permit files to be created, moved, copied, renamed, organized, zipped, unzipped, overwritten, or deleted. Some operations may be immediate and irreversible. A file may also exist in more than one location, may be synchronized by a cloud provider, may be referenced by another application, or may remain in a system or provider trash folder after deletion. Fileen does not guarantee that deleting one visible instance deletes every copy or backup.
The user is responsible for available storage and for the effects of large downloads, extraction, duplication, conversion, and temporary processing. A compressed archive can expand to a size substantially greater than its downloaded size. An interrupted write, low-storage condition, operating-system termination, device shutdown, corrupted source, or provider synchronization conflict may result in incomplete or damaged output. Fileen may remove temporary material or decline to start an operation when storage appears insufficient, but it does not guarantee prevention of every storage-related failure.
Fileen is not a backup service. The current release does not maintain a server-side copy of the user's library and cannot restore local content that has been permanently deleted, corrupted, overwritten, lost with the device, or removed when the application is uninstalled. The user should maintain independent, tested backups appropriate to the importance and sensitivity of the content.
Apple or another provider may include Fileen data in a device backup or synchronize files placed in a cloud-backed location, depending on system settings and provider behavior. Those services are operated by third parties. The Application Provider does not control their availability, encryption, retention, restoration, geographic location, or deletion. The presence of an iCloud or other backup does not relieve the user from verifying that the desired files are actually included and recoverable.
Fileen may offer an optional lock using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. The lock is a convenience and an additional control for opening the Fileen interface. It is not a guarantee that every file is encrypted separately, that an exported or shared copy is protected, that a person with access to the device cannot obtain the file through another interface, or that a forensic or system-level process cannot access data as permitted by law and device security.
The user is responsible for protecting the device passcode, Apple Account, backups, cloud accounts, network credentials, and physical possession of the device. The user must promptly respond to a lost or compromised device using the security tools available from Apple or the relevant provider. The Application Provider cannot remotely recover, unlock, or erase a Fileen installation that is not linked to a Fileen account.
Fileen's handling of information is described in the Fileen Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. In summary, the current release is designed not to upload or store User Content or ordinary app-activity profiles on Fileen-controlled servers and does not require a Fileen account. Online actions selected by the user necessarily communicate with destination websites, file hosts, network providers, Apple services, cloud providers, or other third parties, which may process information under their own policies.
The user must not use Fileen to collect, expose, infer, publish, or misuse personal information about another person in violation of law or without appropriate authority. The user must not upload, export, or share a file containing another person's confidential or personal information merely because Fileen makes the technical action possible.
Fileen is offered in a free version and with an optional automatically renewing subscription called Fileen+. The free version may display third-party advertising as described below. Fileen+ removes that advertising and unlocks two additional capabilities. Every other function of Fileen, including file management, media playback, the on-device tools, and downloading, is available in the free version and is not conditioned on a subscription.
Advertising in the free version. The free version may display a banner within the ordinary screens of the application and a single full-screen advertisement following a download that the user has expressly started and that has successfully begun. Advertising is not presented as a consequence of completing an on-device tool, converting or compressing a file, creating a document, changing playback settings, using cue positions, or opening the application. Advertising is supplied by a third-party advertising provider that controls the content of each advertisement, and the Application Provider does not select, approve, or endorse a particular advertisement. Where the law of the user's region requires it, a consent interface is presented before advertising is requested, and the user may revisit that choice from within the application. The Fileen Privacy Policy describes the advertising integration and the information the advertising provider states that it processes.
What Fileen+ provides. An active Fileen+ entitlement removes Fileen advertising in its entirety, makes the fifth through eighth cue positions available, and permits the tempo control to move beyond the range available without a subscription. It confers no other right and does not alter the licence granted by these Terms.
Plans, billing, and renewal. Fileen+ is offered as a monthly plan and as a yearly plan. The price, the billing period, and the currency applicable to the user are those displayed in the purchase interface at the time of purchase, which are supplied by Apple for the user's storefront. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and the account is charged for the renewal, unless it is cancelled at least twenty-four hours before the end of the then-current period. Apple may adjust the payment date and prorate amounts when a user changes between the monthly and yearly plans.
Billing is performed by Apple. Every purchase, renewal, price change, cancellation, and refund is transacted by Apple through the App Store and is governed by Apple's billing, subscription-management, family-sharing, tax, and account rules in addition to these Terms. The Application Provider does not operate a payment page and does not receive or store payment credentials.
Management and cancellation. A subscription is managed and cancelled in the user's Apple Account subscription settings on the device, not within Fileen. Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not shorten a period that has already been paid for, and the entitlement remains active until that period ends.
Refunds. Because Apple is the merchant of record, the Application Provider cannot grant, process, or guarantee a refund. A refund request is made to Apple through Apple's applicable purchase and refund mechanisms, and Apple determines the outcome under its own policies. Nothing in these Terms limits a right of withdrawal, cancellation, or refund that mandatory consumer law in the user's jurisdiction confers and that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Restoring a purchase. A user who reinstalls Fileen or moves to another device may use the Restore Purchases function within the application, which asks Apple to reassociate an existing subscription with the current installation. Restoration depends on the subscription being active and associated with the Apple Account in use.
When an entitlement ends. If Fileen+ ends by cancellation, expiry, refund, or revocation, no user content is deleted. Files stored through Fileen are unaffected. Cue positions in the fifth through eighth slots that were saved while the subscription was active are retained on the device and become inaccessible rather than erased; they become available again if a Fileen+ entitlement is restored. A tempo range chosen in Settings is likewise retained, while the tempo control returns to the limit applicable without a subscription. Advertising may resume in the free version.
Changes. The Application Provider may change the plans offered, their prices, and the composition of the free and subscribed versions for future periods, subject to the notice and consent requirements imposed by Apple and by applicable law. A price increase does not take effect for an existing subscriber except in the manner Apple permits, and where Apple requires the subscriber's agreement, a subscription that does not receive it does not renew at the new price. Nothing in this section obliges the Application Provider to keep a particular feature free, to maintain a particular price, or to offer Fileen indefinitely.
The Application Provider may release updates that correct errors, improve security, modify the interface, add or remove features, change supported formats, alter technical restrictions, or maintain compatibility with iOS and the App Store. An update may be required for continued use. The Application Provider does not guarantee that Fileen will remain compatible with every device, operating-system version, file format, website, or source service or that an older version will continue functioning after a change made by Apple or a third party.
The user is responsible for installing operating-system and application updates in a timely manner, subject to the user's own backup and compatibility review. A website or service may change its technical design or terms without notice, causing a function to stop working. The Application Provider is not required to circumvent the change, restore a method, or support a source that no longer authorizes or technically permits the relevant action.
Fileen may be unavailable, limited, or interrupted because of maintenance, an operating-system restriction, App Store action, security incident, legal requirement, provider failure, network condition, force majeure event, or other cause. The Application Provider may suspend or discontinue all or part of Fileen, withdraw it from a region, stop supporting a device or operating-system version, or remove a feature where reasonably necessary. Where practical and legally appropriate, the Application Provider may provide notice, but no guarantee of advance notice is made.
The discontinuation of Fileen does not transfer responsibility for the user's local files to the Application Provider. Before removing the application or relying on a version that may no longer be supported, the user should export important files to a location that remains accessible without Fileen.
The user must use Fileen lawfully, in good faith, and in a manner consistent with these Terms and the Fileen Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy. Without limiting those obligations, the user must not use Fileen to infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, database, trade-secret, or other rights; to distribute malware or harmful code; to commit fraud or impersonation; to obtain unauthorized access; to harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person; to evade technical controls; to conceal unlawful conduct; to interfere with Fileen or another service; to impose an unreasonable load; to automate access contrary to a source's rules; to process content the user is legally prohibited from possessing; or to violate applicable sanctions, export controls, court orders, or regulatory restrictions.
The user must not represent that Fileen, Apple, the Application Provider, or another third party endorses the user's content or activity. The user must not use Fileen's name or appearance to distribute a modified or counterfeit application, to mislead another person about the origin of software, or to solicit credentials or payments.
Because Fileen does not require a general user account, enforcement may occur through application updates, feature restrictions, domain or link-method blocks, source restrictions, rate limits, technical rules, App Store controls, or discontinuation of a connected component rather than through account suspension. The Application Provider may implement or change a restriction where it reasonably believes that the action is necessary to comply with law, protect intellectual property, respond to a credible complaint, maintain security, avoid abuse, comply with Apple's rules, or preserve the availability of Fileen.
The Application Provider is not obligated to disclose a security-sensitive detection method, a confidential complaint, a proprietary rule, or technical information that would facilitate circumvention. A user who believes that a restriction was applied in error may contact dev@fileen.net with sufficient evidence of authorization and a description of the affected function. The Application Provider may maintain the restriction notwithstanding the request where a legal, security, platform, or source-policy concern remains.
Fileen, including its software, source and object code, application structure, interface, visual design, icons, text, documentation, compilation, selection and arrangement, trademarks, service marks, logos, and original materials, is owned by or licensed to the Application Provider and is protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party libraries, codecs, or components may be subject to separate notices and licenses, which remain applicable to those components.
No right to use the Fileen name, logo, icon, domain, trade dress, or other brand feature is granted except the limited right to display the application as part of ordinary authorized use. The user may not register a confusingly similar name, imply sponsorship, publish an altered copy, or use Fileen's assets to promote an infringing or unauthorized download service.
Fileen may display, open, or interact with content, formats, links, software, or services supplied by third parties. Those materials remain the responsibility of their respective owners. References to a website, file format, platform, service, application, or trademark are descriptive and do not imply endorsement, partnership, certification, or authorization.
Third-party terms may impose restrictions broader than these Terms. The user must comply with both. If a third-party term prohibits the requested action, the availability of a Fileen control does not supersede the prohibition. The Application Provider may remove compatibility with a third party at any time and is not liable for a third party's decision to change, block, charge for, restrict, suspend, or discontinue its service.
Certain Fileen components may include software made available under open-source or other third-party licenses. To the extent a component license grants rights that conflict with a restriction in these Terms, the component license controls solely with respect to that component. Notices may be included within the application, accompanying documentation, or another location designated by the Application Provider.
No third-party license grants a right to use the Fileen trademarks, proprietary interface, original documentation, or code that is not part of the licensed third-party component. The user remains responsible for complying with the terms of any separate codec, format, or content license applicable to the user's files and intended use.
If the user voluntarily provides an idea, suggestion, correction, proposal, feature request, or other feedback about Fileen, the user grants the Application Provider a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, commercialize, and otherwise exploit that feedback for any lawful purpose without compensation or attribution, provided that this clause does not grant rights in the user's private file content merely because the user reports a technical issue.
The user should not submit confidential business information, unpublished inventions, source code owned by another person, or material subject to an obligation of secrecy. The Application Provider has no obligation to treat unsolicited feedback as confidential or to implement it.
The Application Provider may provide support through dev@fileen.net or another channel identified in the application. Support is offered on a reasonable-efforts basis and may be limited by language, time, device, version, complexity, availability, legal restrictions, and the absence of access to the user's local files. The Application Provider is not required to recover a deleted file, inspect confidential content, provide legal advice, develop a requested feature, support a modified device, or resolve a problem caused by a third-party website or service.
The user must not send a password, access token, private key, highly sensitive file, or another person's confidential information unless the disclosure is necessary, lawful, and specifically requested through a secure method. The Application Provider may decline to open an attachment that presents a security or privacy risk.
The user represents and warrants that the user will comply with these Terms; that the user's use of Fileen will be lawful; that the user has authority over the device and content used; that the user will not misrepresent authorization; that the user will not use Fileen to infringe rights or bypass protections; that information provided in a legal, support, or rights report will be accurate to the user's knowledge; and that the user will not introduce malicious code or attempt to compromise Fileen, its developer-controlled components, Apple systems, or a third-party service.
These representations are continuing. If a representation ceases to be true, the user must stop the affected activity and, where appropriate, stop using Fileen.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FILEEN IS PROVIDED "AS IS," "AS AVAILABLE," AND WITH ALL FAULTS. THE APPLICATION PROVIDER DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, AND OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, COMPATIBILITY, SECURITY, AVAILABILITY, AND FREEDOM FROM MALWARE OR DATA LOSS. THE APPLICATION PROVIDER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT FILEEN WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY FILE, FORMAT, CODEC, WEBSITE, DEVICE, OPERATING-SYSTEM VERSION, OR SERVICE; THAT A DOWNLOAD OR CONVERSION WILL SUCCEED; THAT METADATA WILL BE COMPLETELY REMOVED; THAT A FILE WILL BE SAFE; OR THAT ANY DEFECT WILL BE CORRECTED.
The Application Provider does not warrant the legality, ownership, accuracy, safety, availability, or reliability of any third-party content, link, source, website, file host, cloud provider, advertisement displayed by a website, or transaction entered into with a third party. The user assumes the risks associated with selecting, downloading, opening, converting, storing, sharing, and relying on content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where an implied warranty cannot be disclaimed but may be limited, it is limited to the shortest period and narrowest scope permitted by law.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APPLICATION PROVIDER AND ITS LICENSORS, CONTRACTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS; LOSS OF DATA, FILES, CONTENT, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL, OR EXPECTED SAVINGS; COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES; DAMAGE ARISING FROM A THIRD-PARTY WEBSITE, SOURCE, FILE, SERVICE, OR DEVICE; OR LOSS RESULTING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, MALWARE, CORRUPTION, DELETION, CONVERSION, COMPRESSION, INTERRUPTION, OR INABILITY TO USE FILEEN, EVEN IF ADVISED THAT SUCH LOSS WAS POSSIBLE.
TO THE EXTENT LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, THE APPLICATION PROVIDER'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO FILEEN OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF FIFTY UNITED STATES DOLLARS OR THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY THE USER TO THE APPLICATION PROVIDER FOR FILEEN DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THE LIMITATION APPLIES IN THE AGGREGATE TO ALL CLAIMS AND UNDER EVERY THEORY OF LIABILITY.
The foregoing limitations do not apply to liability that applicable law prohibits the parties from limiting, which may include liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights, depending on the jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions; in those jurisdictions the exclusions apply only to the maximum extent permitted.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the user agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Application Provider and its licensors, contractors, representatives, and affiliates from claims, demands, proceedings, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, penalties, and reasonable costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or relating to the user's unlawful use of Fileen, infringement of another person's rights, unauthorized downloading or distribution, circumvention of technical protections, malicious or abusive conduct, material breach of these Terms, or inaccurate representation of authorization. This obligation does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by the Application Provider's own unlawful conduct or to the extent applicable consumer law prohibits the obligation.
The Application Provider may control the defense of a matter subject to indemnity, and the user agrees to provide reasonable cooperation. The user may not settle a claim in a manner that imposes liability, an admission, or an obligation on the Application Provider without prior written consent.
The user must comply with all laws and binding rules applicable to the user's acquisition and use of Fileen and to the content processed through it. The user may not use, export, re-export, transfer, or make Fileen available in violation of applicable export-control, sanctions, embargo, or restricted-party laws. The user represents that the user is not located in, ordinarily resident in, or acting on behalf of a jurisdiction or person to which provision of Fileen is prohibited, except to the extent authorized by applicable law.
The user is responsible for determining whether particular encryption, media, document, personal-data, employment, education, records-management, or sector-specific rules apply to the user's files. Fileen is not certified for a regulated workflow merely because it can open or process a particular format.
The Application Provider may revise these Terms to reflect changes in Fileen, law, Apple requirements, security practices, technical architecture, distribution, or the business model. The revised Terms will display a new effective date or version. Where reasonably appropriate, notice may be provided within the application, through the App Store description, on a legal page, or by another available method.
A revision applies prospectively from its effective date. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law. If the user does not agree to a revision, the user's remedy is to stop using and delete Fileen, subject to any non-waivable statutory rights. A material revision that legally requires separate consent will not be treated as accepted solely by silence where the applicable law prohibits that method.
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. The user may terminate them by ceasing all use of Fileen and deleting every copy under the user's control. The license terminates automatically if the user materially breaches these Terms, subject to any notice or cure right required by law. The Application Provider may also discontinue Fileen or a connected feature as described in these Terms.
Upon termination, the user must stop using Fileen. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including ownership, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, dispute provisions, and miscellaneous terms, remain in effect. Termination does not itself delete a user's exported files or third-party copies and does not create an obligation for the Application Provider to recover local data.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, these Terms are governed by the law of the principal place of business of the Application Provider, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located there have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This provision does not deprive a consumer of the protection of mandatory law or the right to bring a claim in another forum where the law of the consumer's residence grants that right.
Before initiating formal proceedings, a party should send a written description of the dispute and the requested resolution to dev@fileen.net and allow a reasonable opportunity for good-faith resolution, unless urgent relief, a limitation period, or applicable law makes informal notice impracticable. Nothing in these Terms requires arbitration or waives a right to a court, collective remedy, regulatory complaint, or other procedure unless a separate enforceable agreement expressly provides otherwise.
These Terms, the Fileen Privacy Policy, the Fileen Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy, applicable feature-specific terms, and the Apple license constitute the agreement governing the user's use of Fileen. If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. The Application Provider's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. A waiver must be in writing and applies only to the matter stated.
The user may not assign or transfer these Terms or the license without the Application Provider's prior written consent. The Application Provider may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing, sale of assets, or transfer of Fileen, subject to applicable law. Headings are for convenience and do not limit interpretation. Words such as "including" and "such as" are illustrative and not limiting. The English and Arabic texts are intended to communicate substantially the same terms; if a legally material inconsistency cannot be resolved by reasonable interpretation, the version designated by the Application Provider for the user's App Store region will control to the extent permitted by mandatory law.
Support requests and legal notices concerning these Terms may be sent to dev@fileen.net. The responsible Application Provider is the seller identified on Fileen's App Store product page. A notice should contain enough information to identify the issue and the requested action, but should not include passwords, access tokens, private keys, or confidential file contents unless disclosure is necessary, lawful, and specifically intended.
This Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") forms part of the Fileen Terms of Use and applies whenever a person uses Fileen or a Provider-controlled technical service to access, request, download, copy, convert, extract, trim, compress, archive, organize, display, play, transmit, or otherwise process Content. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Use. A Source's terms, a rights holder's license, and Applicable Law continue to apply independently and may be more restrictive than this Policy.
You may process Content through Fileen only when you possess every right, permission, consent, license, exception, or other legal basis necessary for the particular act you intend to perform. Authorization to view Content does not necessarily include authorization to download it; authorization to download does not necessarily include authorization to convert, extract, distribute, publish, sell, perform, or remove metadata from it; and possession of a file does not necessarily establish ownership. You are responsible for identifying the rights involved and for retaining evidence of permission where a Source, rights holder, Apple, the Provider, or a competent authority may lawfully require it.
Subject in every case to the actual terms and law that apply, potentially authorized Content may include material that you created and own; material for which the rights holder gave you express permission; material in the public domain; material offered under an open license whose attribution, non-commercial, share-alike, source, or other conditions you satisfy; a direct download expressly provided by the Source for your intended use; a lawful backup or format shift permitted by a binding agreement or statutory exception; and material supplied by an employer, client, educational institution, or other principal who has authorized you to act. These examples do not create permission where none exists and are not legal advice.
You must not use Fileen to facilitate illegal file sharing or to save, record, capture, extract, convert, or download audio, video, images, documents, software, streams, manifests, playlists, or other Content from a third-party service unless the service or relevant rights holder has expressly authorized the particular access method and intended use. You must not use a direct-link function, browser, conversion tool, or media utility to accomplish indirectly what the Source forbids directly, and you must not characterize a technical success as legal permission.
Without limiting the foregoing, you may not use Fileen to obtain or redistribute subscription Content, paid Content, private Content, leaked Content, pre-release Content, account-restricted Content, or Content made available solely for streaming where the applicable terms do not authorize the requested copy. You may not market, configure, or represent Fileen as an official downloader for a third-party platform without that platform's written authorization.
You must not bypass, disable, defeat, avoid, remove, decrypt, interfere with, or facilitate the circumvention of digital-rights management, encryption, authentication, a paywall, subscription check, geographic restriction, device limit, expiry mechanism, signed URL, access token, rate limit, anti-bot measure, watermark, or other technical or contractual control. You must not obtain or use another person's credentials, cookies, session data, private link, or authorization material without valid permission. A statutory exception, if any, must be determined under Applicable Law and does not authorize broader conduct than the exception expressly permits.
You must preserve copyright notices, author credits, license statements, source references, authenticity information, and rights-management information when the applicable permission or law requires them. A metadata-removal function may be used for legitimate privacy or file-management purposes, but it must not be used to conceal infringement, misrepresent authorship, remove attribution that must be retained, falsify provenance, evade detection of unlawful distribution, or impair another person's lawful rights. You are responsible for reviewing which metadata a tool removes and for keeping a compliant original where necessary.
You must not obtain, organize, transform, or distribute a private communication, intimate image, confidential document, personal recording, location record, credential, medical or financial record, or other personal information without a valid legal basis and all required permissions. You must not use Fileen for stalking, doxxing, non-consensual surveillance, impersonation, blackmail, harassment, exploitation, or the publication of unlawfully obtained material. A person's appearance in Content, or the fact that Content was sent to you, does not necessarily authorize public or commercial use.
You must not use Fileen to create, conceal, package, download, distribute, or operate malware, ransomware, spyware, credential theft, malicious documents, phishing material, exploit code, destructive payloads, botnet components, or files intended to evade lawful security controls. You must not use Fileen to conduct fraud, manipulate metrics, impersonate a service, test stolen credentials, enumerate private resources, access a system without permission, or interfere with a network, device, account, website, Source, or Provider-controlled service.
You must not automate Fileen or a Provider-controlled endpoint in a manner that exceeds ordinary personal use, defeats a technical limit, imposes an unreasonable or disproportionate load, causes repeated failed requests, scrapes or enumerates resources without authorization, or degrades service for others. The Provider may apply rate limits, source restrictions, integrity checks, compatibility changes, or other proportionate controls without disclosing security-sensitive details.
A person who believes that Fileen-owned material, a Provider-controlled technical resource, a supported method, or another matter within the Provider's practical control infringes a right or creates unlawful abuse may send a notice to dev@fileen.net with a subject identifying it as a copyright, rights, security, or abuse report. The notice should identify the reporting person and any represented rights holder, describe the protected work or affected right, identify the Fileen feature, resource, domain, URL, or conduct at issue with sufficient precision, explain the basis of the complaint, provide reliable contact information, state that the report is made in good faith and is accurate, and include an electronic or physical signature where appropriate.
The Provider may request additional information, preserve relevant correspondence, correct Provider-owned material, restrict a domain or method, modify a compatibility resource, refer the reporter to a Source or hosting provider, decline a deficient or unsupported request, or take another action reasonably proportionate to the Provider's actual role and Applicable Law. The Provider is not required to adjudicate a complex ownership dispute and may require an order, license evidence, or direct communication from the relevant platform or rights holder.
If a user believes that a technical restriction or other Provider action was based on mistake and that the user has valid authorization, the user may write to dev@fileen.net with sufficient information to identify the action and with evidence of the relevant permission. The Provider may maintain the restriction where it is required by law, Apple policy, a Source's enforceable terms, security concerns, infrastructure limitations, or a reasonable assessment of legal risk. Submission of a response does not entitle the user to restoration of a particular Source or method.
The current release is designed to store the user's ordinary library locally and does not operate a public user-upload platform through which the Provider hosts and distributes that library to others. Accordingly, the Provider ordinarily cannot remove a local file from a user's device in response to a third-party notice and does not represent that it operates a statutory notice-and-takedown program applicable to public hosting services. A complainant should ordinarily direct a request concerning material hosted by a website or file host to the operator that stores or publishes that material.
This limitation does not prevent the Provider from acting with respect to Fileen-owned content, a Provider-controlled endpoint, an application feature, a supported domain or method, or other conduct within the Provider's practical control, and it does not prevent compliance with a valid legal order.
The Provider may investigate a credible report and may restrict or discontinue a Source, method, protocol, compatibility resource, or Provider-controlled service where reasonably necessary to protect rights, comply with law or Apple requirements, prevent circumvention or fraud, address malware or security threats, or protect infrastructure. Serious or repeated misuse may result in termination of the license and any other lawful remedy. Because Fileen does not require an account in the current release, enforcement may occur through application updates or technical restrictions rather than an account-based warning system.
A reference to a format, Source, service, website, or rights framework is descriptive and does not imply affiliation, authorization, sponsorship, or endorsement. The Provider does not determine whether a statutory exception applies to a particular user and does not provide legal advice. This Policy may be revised to address legal, technical, security, or platform changes, and the revised version will identify its effective date. Questions and notices may be sent to dev@fileen.net.
This Local Processing, File Integrity, Storage, and Security Notice forms part of the legal terms applicable to Fileen and explains, in greater operational detail, the manner in which on-device file actions are initiated, completed, interrupted, stored, exported, or deleted. It is intended to supplement, and not replace, the Fileen Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Capitalized expressions not separately defined in this Notice have the meanings assigned to them in those documents.
This Notice applies whenever Fileen reads, displays, organizes, creates, renames, copies, moves, compresses, extracts, converts, trims, renders, previews, plays, exports, or deletes a file or related item on the user's device. By selecting a Fileen operation, the user instructs the application to perform the selected technical steps against the source item, the destination selected by the user, and any temporary working area made available by iOS. The user remains responsible for determining that the action is lawful, appropriate, and suitable for the importance and sensitivity of the material.
The descriptions in this Notice are functional descriptions and do not constitute a promise that each format, codec, container, archive, metadata field, third-party file provider, or operating-system version will behave identically. File operations may depend on Apple frameworks, available device resources, file-provider implementations, and third-party libraries whose behavior can change. Where this Notice conflicts with a mandatory legal right, the mandatory right prevails; where it conflicts with a more specific Fileen notice displayed for a particular operation, the more specific notice governs that operation to the extent of the conflict.
The ordinary file-management and media-processing functions described in Fileen are designed to execute on the device. Fileen does not require a Fileen cloud account and does not upload the contents of the selected source file to a Fileen-controlled processing server in order to complete ordinary conversion, compression, trimming, archive, preview, playback, metadata, or organization functions. The output of such functions is ordinarily written to local application storage or to a location expressly selected by the user through an Apple system interface.
Local execution does not prevent a file from reaching another party when the user deliberately selects an online destination, opens a remote source, initiates a download, saves into a cloud-backed file-provider location, sends an item through the share sheet, or exports to another application. Those user-directed transfers are separate from Fileen's local processing architecture and are governed by the destination's technical behavior, terms, and privacy practices.
Files imported into Fileen may be stored inside the application container, in an application-managed folder exposed through supported system interfaces, or in another location selected by the user through the Files app, a document picker, a share extension, or a third-party file-provider extension. The level of control available to Fileen differs by location. Fileen may be able to fully rename, replace, or delete an item stored inside its own container while having only temporary, scoped, or security-token-based access to an item located in another provider.
A third-party file provider may delay writes, create conflict copies, synchronize data to a remote service, retain historical versions, or report a successful local operation before remote synchronization has completed. Fileen does not control those provider-specific actions. The user should verify the final state in the relevant provider and should not assume that deleting a local representation necessarily deletes every remote, cached, shared, or historical copy maintained by that provider.
Where technically and operationally reasonable, Fileen may create a new output item rather than overwriting the source item. The name, extension, destination, quality, and format of that output may be selected by the user or generated by the application. A new output is not necessarily semantically or technically identical to the source; conversion, compression, trimming, metadata removal, re-encoding, and document assembly may alter quality, timing, color, dimensions, chapter information, embedded artwork, subtitles, accessibility information, or other characteristics.
If an operation permits replacement of an existing item, the user must review the destination and overwrite choice before proceeding. An overwrite may not be recoverable, particularly when the destination is outside Fileen's own storage area or when the relevant provider does not maintain versions or a recoverable trash. Fileen does not warrant that a source item can be reconstructed from a processed output.
Many file operations require temporary working space. Fileen or an Apple framework may create partial downloads, decoded frames, audio buffers, thumbnail images, archive indexes, render files, temporary exports, database entries, or other intermediate material. Such material may exist for the duration of the operation and may remain temporarily after interruption, cancellation, system termination, low-storage conditions, or an application crash until Fileen or iOS performs cleanup.
The amount of temporary space required may exceed the final output size and, for some media operations, may approach or exceed the size of the source file several times over. The user is responsible for maintaining sufficient free storage and should avoid performing critical operations when the device reports low capacity. Fileen may decline, pause, or fail an operation when resources are insufficient, and it may remove incomplete working material where technically possible.
A file name or extension is an indicator and not a guarantee of the file's actual contents. A file named with a familiar extension may contain another format, malformed data, executable content, encrypted content, or malicious payloads. Fileen may use the extension, a Uniform Type Identifier, a MIME type, a file signature, container information, or a combination of indicators to decide which operations to offer, but no identification method is infallible.
Changing an extension does not convert the underlying file. If Fileen offers a rename operation that changes an extension, the user accepts that other software may no longer recognize the file or may interpret it incorrectly. A genuine conversion requires processing by an appropriate encoder, decoder, renderer, or document engine and may still fail if the source is damaged, encrypted, unsupported, or incomplete.
When Fileen converts audio, video, or images, it may decode the source and encode a new representation using settings selected by the user or defaults chosen by the application. Lossy conversion may permanently discard information, and repeated conversion may compound quality loss. Even a nominally lossless workflow may alter metadata, container structure, color profiles, channel layouts, timing precision, embedded chapters, cover art, or compatibility characteristics.
Fileen does not represent that an output is suitable for broadcast, evidentiary, archival, medical, scientific, or professional production use. The user should inspect the complete output, compare duration and content, and retain an independent copy of the source before deleting or replacing it. A successful status indicator means that the technical operation completed according to the available framework; it is not a certification of perceptual quality or legal fitness.
Audio extraction from a video or another supported container creates a separate audio representation and may omit video-only timing, subtitles, chapters, alternate tracks, or metadata that is not supported by the destination format. Trimming may re-encode the selected range, align the result to key frames or sample boundaries, and produce a start or end point that differs slightly from the position shown in a preview. Playback speed, equalization, volume, queue state, bookmarks, repeat points, and resume position may be maintained locally as convenience information and do not modify the source unless Fileen expressly indicates otherwise.
The existence of a technical extraction or playback capability does not establish that the user has permission to copy or transform the underlying media. The user must comply with the Fileen Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy, the source's terms, applicable copyright law, and any license attached to the content.
Video compression can reduce file size by changing bitrate, resolution, frame rate, codec, audio settings, metadata, or other encoding parameters. A smaller output may exhibit visible artifacts, color changes, reduced detail, synchronization differences, or loss of unsupported tracks. Rotation may be implemented by rewriting display metadata or by re-encoding pixels, depending on format and compatibility. Muting may remove or replace audio tracks and can affect container timing or compatibility.
A frame extracted from video is a still representation of a decoded moment and may not match the exact compressed source frame, may be affected by color conversion or scaling, and may contain material subject to the same rights and restrictions as the original video. The user should verify the resulting file before relying on it and should preserve the source when the content is important.
Image compression and resizing may change dimensions, file size, color profile, bit depth, transparency, animation, orientation, metadata, or visual quality. Converting from a format that supports transparency, high dynamic range, animation, layers, or multiple frames to a simpler format can remove those features. Fileen may apply orientation data to pixels or normalize it, resulting in a file whose metadata differs from the source even though the displayed orientation appears unchanged.
Color appearance can vary across screens, applications, and output formats. Fileen does not guarantee colorimetric equivalence, print accuracy, preservation of every metadata field, or compatibility with a specialized editing workflow. The user should keep an original copy where such properties are material.
When Fileen creates a PDF from images or other supported inputs, the application assembles new pages using the order, dimensions, orientation, margins, compression, and quality settings available for that operation. The resulting PDF may not preserve searchable text, accessibility tags, reading order, source color profiles, original file metadata, or the precise physical dimensions expected by a printer unless those features are expressly supported.
A PDF created by Fileen is not an electronic signature, a certified copy, a notarized record, or a guarantee that the source document is authentic or complete. The user must review every page, confirm ordering and legibility, and determine whether the output satisfies any filing, evidentiary, accessibility, retention, or regulatory requirement that applies to the user's purpose.
Archive creation may place selected items into a ZIP or another supported container and may preserve only the attributes that the format and framework support. Permissions, extended attributes, symbolic links, resource forks, hidden files, timestamps, comments, encryption characteristics, or platform-specific metadata may not be preserved. Compression ratios vary and some media formats may become larger or show little reduction.
Archive extraction can create many files, deeply nested paths, duplicate names, or content whose uncompressed size is substantially larger than the archive. Fileen may apply path-safety checks, rename conflicts, or reject unsupported or suspicious entries, but the user should still inspect the archive source and maintain adequate storage. Password-protected or encrypted archives may be unsupported or may require user input; Fileen does not recover forgotten passwords or defeat encryption.
Metadata may exist in several places, including file-system attributes, media containers, image tags, document properties, thumbnails, sidecar files, embedded databases, cloud-provider records, and copies created by another application. A Fileen metadata-removal function applies only to the fields and formats that the implementation recognizes and can modify. It may create a new file rather than altering the original, and it may not remove information that is visually present in pixels, audio, text, or filenames.
No metadata-removal result should be treated as a guarantee of anonymity. The content itself, the destination service, network records, account details, document text, visible landmarks, unique identifiers, or other contextual information may still identify a person or reveal origin. The user must inspect the output and assess whether additional redaction or specialist review is required.
To provide responsive navigation, Fileen may create thumbnails, waveform summaries, preview representations, search indexes, recent-item references, playback positions, favorites, and other local convenience records. These records may reveal information about a file even when the file itself is locked or stored elsewhere, and they may remain until cleared, regenerated, invalidated, or removed with the application.
An application lock may restrict ordinary entry into Fileen but does not necessarily prevent iOS, a file provider, another authorized application, a backup service, or a system interface from displaying an external copy or a system-generated preview. The user should evaluate device-level protections, notification settings, backup settings, and external file locations when handling sensitive material.
A delete command may move an item to an application trash, request deletion from a provider, remove a directory entry, or delete an application-container copy, depending on the relevant location and feature. Deletion may not immediately overwrite the underlying storage blocks and may not remove backups, synchronized versions, exports, thumbnails, recipient copies, or provider history. Fileen does not represent that ordinary deletion is forensic secure erasure.
If Fileen offers a recoverable trash period, the item may continue to occupy storage and remain accessible through the trash until it is permanently removed or the retention period expires. If no recoverable trash applies, deletion may be immediate. The user should verify the behavior shown for the selected location and should maintain backups before deleting material that may be needed later.
Data inside an application container may be included in an Apple-managed device backup unless the operating system, the file's attributes, the selected storage class, or the user's settings exclude it. A user-selected Files location may itself be backed by iCloud Drive or another provider. Saving to Photos may cause the item to synchronize according to the user's Photos settings. These processes are operated by Apple or the selected provider rather than by Fileen.
Removing Fileen from one device does not necessarily remove copies already included in a backup, synchronized to another device, exported to another application, or shared with another person. Conversely, Fileen cannot promise that every local item will be restored after reinstalling the application or restoring a device. The user should maintain an independent, tested backup strategy appropriate to the importance of the files.
Where the user enables an application lock, Fileen may ask iOS to evaluate Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode. Apple performs the biometric comparison and returns an authentication result; Fileen does not receive or store the user's face geometry, fingerprint image, or biometric template. The availability and behavior of fallback authentication are controlled by iOS, device configuration, and the settings selected by the application.
The application lock is intended to reduce casual unauthorized access after the device has already been unlocked. It is not a separate encrypted vault, does not replace the device passcode, and may not protect external copies, system backups, previews shown outside Fileen, or items stored in another provider. A person with sufficient control of the device, Apple account, backup, or storage location may be able to access material outside the lock's scope.
Files obtained from the internet or another person may be malicious, misleading, corrupted, incomplete, encrypted, or crafted to exploit a vulnerability in a parser, codec, browser, operating system, or third-party component. Fileen may refuse certain content or rely on platform protections, but it is not an antivirus product and does not certify that a file is safe. The user should obtain files only from trusted sources and should keep iOS and Fileen updated.
Opening, previewing, extracting, or converting a file can trigger complex processing. The user accepts that an unsupported or hostile file may cause failure, high resource use, application termination, unexpected output, or loss of an incomplete operation. Suspicious files should not be opened merely because Fileen recognizes an extension or offers a preview button.
Where Fileen displays a size, checksum, hash, or other technical identifier, that value describes the bytes read at a particular time and is not a guarantee of authorship, lawfulness, safety, or authenticity. Two files with different hashes may contain perceptually similar content, and a matching hash shows byte identity only when the same algorithm and complete input are used correctly.
The user should use independent verification, trusted signatures, checksums supplied through a separate channel, or professional forensic methods where integrity is important. Fileen does not create a chain of custody merely by storing or displaying a file and is not represented as a certified evidence-management system.
An operation may be interrupted when the user closes the application, iOS suspends background work, the device loses power, available storage changes, a source becomes unavailable, the network fails, the device overheats, or the operating system terminates a process. Fileen may resume certain downloads or operations where the platform and source permit, but resumption is not guaranteed and may require restarting the operation.
The user should keep the device adequately powered, connected as necessary, and available during lengthy operations. A progress indicator is an estimate based on information available at the time and may pause, regress, or change as the source, encoder, or file provider reports additional work.
Fileen is a general-purpose consumer file utility and is not represented as a regulated records-management system, evidentiary repository, legal hold platform, medical archive, financial books-and-records system, or disaster-recovery service. It does not provide guaranteed retention schedules, immutable storage, redundant geographic backup, administrator audit trails, custody certification, or regulatory validation unless a future feature expressly states otherwise in a separate written agreement.
A user handling business-critical, regulated, irreplaceable, or legally significant records must implement independent controls, including backup, access management, retention, encryption, verification, and professional review appropriate to the applicable obligations. The convenience of local processing does not replace those controls.
Fileen may update this Notice when file operations, supported formats, Apple frameworks, security controls, or storage behavior change. The revised version will state a new effective date or document version. A change to this Notice does not by itself authorize the upload or server-side storage of User Content.
Questions about this Notice may be directed to dev@fileen.net. To protect privacy and security, a support request should describe the issue without attaching confidential file content unless the attachment is necessary, lawful, and specifically requested through an appropriate channel.
These External Services, Direct Links, Downloads, and Network Activity Terms form part of the Fileen Terms of Use. They apply whenever the user opens a website, submits or follows a link, requests a remote resource, downloads a file, uses a source that requires authentication, or otherwise causes Fileen to communicate with a destination outside the device. They do not grant the user any right in third-party content and must be read together with the Fileen Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy.
These Terms govern the network-facing features of Fileen, including any embedded browser, direct-link input, remote-file request, download queue, resume mechanism, redirect handling, source preview, or technical compatibility function made available in the installed release. They supplement the general Terms of Use, which continue to govern the application license, local file operations, disclaimers, liability, and dispute provisions. A more specific warning displayed for a particular source, format, or operation may impose additional restrictions.
Nothing in these Terms should be interpreted as a representation that a third-party source permits downloading, conversion, copying, automation, or access merely because Fileen can technically send a request to that source. Authorization is a legal and contractual question determined by the rights holder, the source's terms, the user's relationship with the source, and applicable law.
A direct link generally means a network address that identifies or resolves to a file or resource that a remote server is willing to deliver in response to a request. A link may instead resolve to a web page, authentication flow, advertisement, redirect chain, script, expiring token, streaming manifest, access-denied response, or another resource that is not a downloadable file. Fileen may inspect available response headers, naming information, content type, length, or other technical signals, but those signals may be inaccurate, missing, or intentionally misleading.
The display of a proposed file name, type, size, host, or destination before download is informational. The remote server may change the response after the request begins, omit a size, send a different type, use dynamic compression, terminate the transfer, or require credentials. The user should verify the source and final file and should not rely on the preview as a certification of content, safety, or rights.
By entering, pasting, opening, or selecting a link, the user directs Fileen and the device to communicate with the relevant destination and any intermediate services necessary to resolve the request. The user is responsible for ensuring that the request is authorized, that any credentials or tokens used belong to the user or are lawfully available, and that the requested transfer does not violate a contract, law, court order, technical restriction, or third-party right.
Fileen is not obligated to determine the user's rights in advance and cannot ordinarily inspect the circumstances under which the user obtained a link. The absence of an automated block does not constitute approval. Fileen may nevertheless reject, limit, or discontinue a request when it identifies a technical, legal, security, platform-compliance, or abuse concern.
Many websites, file hosts, streaming services, subscription platforms, and content providers impose terms that restrict automated access, offline saving, copying, extraction, conversion, redistribution, or use outside an official application. The user must review and comply with the terms, license, and permissions applicable to the source before using Fileen. Permission to view or stream content is not necessarily permission to download, convert, extract, retain, or share it.
Where a source requires explicit authorization for an application to access or download content, the availability of Fileen does not provide that authorization. The user must not use Fileen with that source unless the source has granted the required permission to the user and, where required, to Fileen or the relevant method of access. Fileen may request evidence of authorization or remove source-specific compatibility where necessary to satisfy Apple requirements, legal demands, or rights-holder concerns.
The user must not use Fileen to save, convert, or download audio or video from a third-party service unless the source explicitly permits that activity and the user has all additional rights required for the intended use. This restriction applies even where the content can be played in a browser, appears publicly accessible, is embedded on another page, or can be reached through a temporary or signed URL.
Fileen is a general-purpose file utility and is not represented as an authorized downloader for any named music, video, social, streaming, or subscription platform. The user must not describe, market, or use Fileen in a manner that implies an affiliation, endorsement, or source authorization that does not exist.
The user must not use Fileen to defeat, bypass, disable, interfere with, or avoid digital rights management, encryption, authentication, paywalls, region controls, session controls, rate limits, access tokens, signature checks, playback restrictions, copy controls, or other technological measures that control access to or use of a work, service, account, or system. This prohibition includes combining Fileen with another tool, script, proxy, modified device, extracted credential, or unofficial endpoint to obtain a result that the source does not permit.
Fileen does not undertake to recover protected content, derive decryption keys, imitate protected clients, or circumvent source restrictions. An inability to download or process a resource may reflect a deliberate control imposed by the source and must not be treated as a defect that Fileen is required to overcome.
A source may require sign-in, cookies, session state, a signed link, an authorization header, or another credential. Such information can be sensitive and may grant access to private content or an account. The user must protect it, avoid sharing it unnecessarily, and use it only in accordance with the source's terms. A copied URL may contain a token that is visible to any recipient and may remain valid until expiration or revocation.
Fileen does not ask the user to disclose a password to the Application Provider. Authentication entered into a third-party website is submitted to that website through the relevant browser or system interface. The user should verify the domain, transport security, and legitimacy of the page before entering credentials and should not assume that a page is safe merely because it opened inside Fileen.
A link may pass through multiple redirects, tracking domains, content-delivery systems, mirrors, or shortener services before reaching the final resource. The final destination may differ from the visible domain or may change over time. Fileen may follow redirects where permitted by the networking framework, but it does not guarantee that every intermediate or final destination is trustworthy or that the resource remains the same as when the link was created.
The user should exercise particular care with shortened, obfuscated, unsolicited, or dynamically generated links. A rights holder or source may revoke a link, replace the content, impose a new condition, or direct the request elsewhere. Fileen may stop a redirect chain, require confirmation, or refuse a destination that presents a safety or compliance risk.
Some links include signatures, timestamps, account identifiers, file names, permissions, or other query parameters and may expire or work only once. These links may reveal information to the destination, a network provider, a person with access to the device, or a party with whom the link is shared. The user should treat them as credentials and should not paste or transmit them unless necessary and authorized.
Fileen does not guarantee that a paused or interrupted transfer can resume after a token expires or that the same URL will return the same file. A retry may require the user to obtain a new authorized link from the source. Fileen is not responsible for the loss of access caused by expiration, revocation, account changes, or source-side restrictions.
A remote server may suggest a file name through a response header or URL path. Fileen may sanitize unsupported characters, shorten a name, add an extension, preserve a detected extension, or ask the user to choose a name. A server-provided name may be inaccurate, unsafe, deceptive, or designed to resemble another type of file. The user should review the final name and type before opening the result.
If a destination already contains an item with the same name, Fileen may offer replacement, renaming, duplication, cancellation, or another conflict resolution. Selecting replacement can permanently remove or obscure the existing item. The user is responsible for selecting the correct destination and preserving any prior version that is needed.
A download may be stored temporarily as a partial file and renamed or moved after completion. Resuming an interrupted transfer depends on the source's support for byte-range requests, the continued validity of the link, the consistency of the remote file, and the behavior of iOS. If the source changes the file or refuses a range request, Fileen may need to restart the transfer or may produce an incomplete result if the inconsistency is not detectable.
The user should verify completion, file size, playback, checksum where available, and content before deleting another copy or relying on the download. A progress indicator or completion event does not certify that the source delivered the intended, lawful, safe, or uncorrupted material.
Websites opened through Fileen may receive the user's IP address, request headers, device or browser characteristics, referrer information, language, cookies, local storage, account state, and other information under the site's own practices. A site may display advertisements, analytics, fingerprinting, consent interfaces, pop-ups, downloads, payment requests, or links to other parties. Fileen does not control those practices merely because the site appears in an embedded browser.
Browser storage behavior depends on the WebKit configuration used by the installed release. Even where a non-persistent website data store is used, information may exist in memory for the session, and the destination still receives the network request. Where persistent storage is enabled, website data may remain on the device until cleared. The user should use available controls to close sessions, sign out, or clear website data when appropriate.
An external website may display advertisements or offer goods, services, subscriptions, donations, or payments. Those offers are made by the third party, not by Fileen, unless the interface clearly identifies Fileen as the seller. The Application Provider does not endorse an advertisement, guarantee a transaction, or receive the user's payment merely because the website was opened through Fileen.
The user is responsible for reviewing the seller, price, renewal terms, refund terms, privacy policy, and security of the transaction. The user should not enter payment information into a page whose identity or legitimacy is uncertain. Disputes concerning a third-party transaction must be directed to the relevant seller or payment provider.
A remote source may distribute malware, phishing pages, deceptive prompts, corrupted archives, unwanted software, or content designed to exploit a vulnerability. Fileen may use operating-system protections and may block known or suspicious patterns, but it is not a substitute for antivirus, threat intelligence, professional security review, or user caution. The user should avoid unsolicited links and should verify a source through an independent channel.
The user must not use Fileen to distribute malicious content, test unauthorized access against another system, conduct credential theft, or facilitate harmful activity. Fileen may disable a source, protocol, or technical method that presents a significant security risk even if the same method has lawful uses.
Downloads and browsing consume network resources and may incur mobile-data, roaming, internet-service, or provider charges. Fileen does not control the user's connectivity plan, throttling, data cap, network filtering, or carrier restrictions. A large download may continue in the foreground or background as permitted by iOS and the user's settings and may consume substantial data.
The user should review the expected size where available, select an appropriate network, and monitor device storage and data usage. An incorrect or absent size estimate does not transfer responsibility for third-party network charges to the Application Provider except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
A source may limit access by country, account location, license territory, age, institution, employment status, or another condition. The user must not use Fileen to misrepresent location or evade a lawful geographic restriction. A resource that is available in one region may be unlawful, licensed differently, or unavailable in another.
Fileen may be distributed in a region without guaranteeing that every third-party source or type of content can lawfully be accessed there. The user is responsible for complying with local law and source restrictions. The Application Provider may withdraw Fileen or a feature from a territory where compliance cannot reasonably be maintained.
The user must not use Fileen to impose an unreasonable load, send abusive or excessive requests, defeat rate limits, scrape a service in violation of its terms, enumerate resources, or interfere with the availability of a source. A multi-link or queue feature is intended for authorized files and does not authorize high-volume access that the source forbids.
Fileen may limit concurrent transfers, request frequency, retry behavior, background activity, or supported domains to protect the application, the device, network infrastructure, third parties, and App Store compliance. Such limits may change without creating a right to uninterrupted or unlimited automation.
A remote file may be modified, replaced, deleted, revoked, or moved at any time. Fileen does not maintain an independent copy on its servers and cannot restore a resource that the source no longer provides. A bookmark, download record, or stored link is not a guarantee of continued availability.
The user should preserve authorized copies according to the applicable license and should not rely on Fileen as a remote archival service. If the user's right to retain the content expires, the user is responsible for deleting or ceasing use of the copy as required by the applicable agreement or law.
A rights holder, source operator, security researcher, regulator, or other affected party may contact Fileen regarding a source, link-handling method, unauthorized use, or technical risk. The Application Provider may investigate, request information, limit functionality, block a domain or protocol, remove compatibility logic, or take another proportionate step without adjudicating every underlying dispute.
Because Fileen does not ordinarily host the user's downloaded files, it may have no copy to remove from the user's device. The user remains responsible for responding to a lawful claim concerning the user's possession or use of content. The Application Provider may provide information actually held by it where required by valid legal process and applicable law.
Fileen's ability to open a site, display a link, recognize a response, or save a file does not imply endorsement, partnership, affiliation, accuracy, safety, quality, lawfulness, or continued compatibility. External services are used at the user's risk. The Application Provider is not responsible for examining every source or for losses caused by third-party content, outages, account actions, malware, inaccurate information, or contractual disputes, subject to rights that cannot be excluded.
The user should maintain backups, use trusted sources, preserve evidence of authorization, and verify every important download. Questions about these Terms or a source-related concern may be sent to dev@fileen.net with enough detail to identify the issue without unnecessarily disclosing private credentials or file content.
This Procedure describes the channels and conditions under which a user, rights holder, security researcher, regulator, or other affected person may contact the Fileen Application Provider. It does not create a guaranteed response time, a contractual support level, an admission of jurisdiction, a waiver of rights, or an obligation to disclose information that the Application Provider does not possess or may lawfully withhold.
Unless a different channel is expressly displayed for a particular matter, notices concerning Fileen may be sent to dev@fileen.net. The Application Provider is the person or legal entity identified as the seller or application provider on Fileen's App Store product page. A sender should identify Fileen in the subject line, state the nature of the request, provide a reliable method of reply, and include only information reasonably necessary to evaluate the matter.
A message sent to an unrelated address, a public review, a social-media account, an App Store rating, or a third-party forum may not constitute formal notice to the Application Provider. Nothing in this Procedure changes a statutory method of service or notice that cannot lawfully be altered by contract.
A support request should describe the installed Fileen version, iOS version, device model where relevant, the operation attempted, the visible error, and steps that reproduce the issue. The user should first remove private names, links, tokens, account details, and file contents that are not necessary. The Application Provider may ask for screenshots, logs generated by the application, a sample file, or other diagnostic information, but the user is not required to disclose confidential material merely to obtain general guidance.
Support is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis. No response time, resolution, language, continued availability, or compatibility outcome is guaranteed. The Application Provider may be unable to inspect local files, reproduce a source-side failure, recover deleted data, or resolve a problem caused by Apple, a website, a file provider, a network operator, or another third party.
A person seeking to exercise an applicable privacy right should use the subject line “Privacy Request” and describe the relevant interaction with Fileen or the Application Provider. Because Fileen does not create an ordinary server-side account or retain a cloud copy of the user's library, the Application Provider may hold no record corresponding to local files or activity. A request should therefore identify any support correspondence, legal report, security communication, or other event through which information may actually have reached the Application Provider.
The Application Provider may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity, authority, jurisdiction, and the scope of the request. It may deny, limit, or extend handling where permitted by law, including where the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, unverifiable, legally privileged, subject to an exemption, or directed to information held only by an independent third party. The requester may have a right to complain to a competent authority.
A rights complaint should identify the protected work, mark, person, confidential information, or other right; explain the complainant's authority; identify the Fileen feature, source, domain, link-handling method, or developer-controlled material at issue; state the legal and factual basis of the claim; provide contact information; and include a good-faith statement that the complaint is accurate. The complainant should not send an infringing file or sensitive personal information when a description, screenshot, hash, or public reference is sufficient.
Fileen ordinarily does not host or publish the user's downloaded files and may therefore have no copy to remove from the user's device. A complaint may nonetheless be relevant to a developer-controlled website, compatibility method, application description, or technical feature. The Application Provider may request clarification, forward a non-confidential portion to an affected party, restrict a feature, block a source, preserve evidence, or take another proportionate action without admitting liability.
This Procedure is a general rights-contact mechanism and is not a representation that Fileen operates a public content-hosting platform, stores user uploads, acts as a social network, or qualifies for a particular statutory intermediary safe harbor. The Application Provider does not designate a statutory copyright agent through this document unless a separate, valid designation has been completed and published as required by the relevant law.
If Fileen later introduces hosting, public sharing, indexing, proxying, caching, or another function that materially changes its role, the Application Provider may adopt a more specific notice-and-action or takedown procedure. Until then, the user remains responsible for files on the user's device and for responding to claims concerning the user's possession, copying, conversion, or distribution of those files.
A security researcher or user who believes that Fileen, a developer-controlled endpoint, or a legal page contains a vulnerability should use the subject line “Security Report” and provide a concise description, affected version, reproducible steps, observed impact, and any proof necessary to confirm the issue. The reporter should avoid accessing data belonging to another person, disrupting service, degrading availability, using social engineering, publishing an unremediated exploit, or retaining information beyond what is necessary to report the issue.
Submission of a report does not create an employment, agency, bounty, confidentiality, or compensation relationship unless the Application Provider agrees in a separate writing. The Application Provider may acknowledge, investigate, prioritize, remediate, or decline the report according to severity, reproducibility, available resources, legal obligations, and the extent to which the issue falls within Fileen's control.
A report concerning malware, phishing, fraud, circumvention, unlawful downloads, abusive automation, impersonation, or another misuse should identify the conduct and the Fileen-controlled component, if any, that is involved. A report should distinguish between conduct performed by an independent website or user and conduct controlled by the Application Provider. The mere fact that a website was opened or a file was saved through Fileen does not make that third party's content developer-controlled.
The Application Provider may evaluate a report for security, legal, platform-compliance, and product-design purposes. It may block a domain or method, change application behavior, notify an affected provider, preserve information, or refer a matter to authorities where lawful and appropriate. It is not required to disclose investigative methods, security controls, legal advice, or actions that would compromise another person's privacy or safety.
A complete report ordinarily includes the sender's name or organizational role, a reply address, the Fileen version, relevant dates and time zone, the affected feature, the source or destination, a factual description, supporting evidence, and the requested resolution. Anonymous reports may be reviewed, but the inability to ask follow-up questions or verify authority may limit action.
The sender must not fabricate evidence, impersonate another person, knowingly misstate ownership, submit a claim solely to disrupt lawful access, or use the process to obtain confidential information. The Application Provider may disregard repetitive, abusive, threatening, automated, or clearly unsupported submissions and may retain a record necessary to protect the service and defend against misuse.
Email is not guaranteed to be confidential or secure. A sender should not transmit passwords, private keys, authentication tokens, government identifiers, financial data, intimate images, trade secrets, privileged legal communications, or complete private files unless the disclosure is necessary, authorized, and made through a method specifically agreed for that purpose. Redacted or minimized evidence should be used wherever possible.
The Application Provider will handle received information in accordance with the Fileen Privacy Policy and applicable law, but it cannot promise confidentiality where disclosure is necessary to investigate the report, obtain professional advice, comply with legal process, protect rights or safety, or communicate with an affected provider or party. A sender should clearly identify any information believed to require special treatment and explain the basis.
The Application Provider may acknowledge a submission, request additional information, provide a substantive response, take action without a detailed response, or determine that no action is warranted. Timing depends on urgency, complexity, verification, language, available resources, third-party involvement, legal process, and the need to preserve security. An automated acknowledgment does not mean that the claim has been accepted.
Nothing in this Procedure extends a legal limitation period, stays a court deadline, guarantees preservation of a remote resource, or substitutes for contacting emergency services, law enforcement, Apple, a website, a file host, a financial institution, or another party with direct control over the relevant matter.
The Application Provider may retain a submission and related correspondence for the period reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records, secure Fileen, comply with law, establish or defend legal claims, and demonstrate handling. Information may be deleted, anonymized, or aggregated when no longer needed, subject to backups, legal holds, security records, and mandatory retention.
A request to preserve evidence must identify the material, legal basis, relevant period, and connection to the Application Provider. Fileen cannot preserve local files or third-party website records that it does not possess or control. A preservation request does not require the Application Provider to create new data, reconstruct deleted records, or retain information beyond what the law requires.
Government, law-enforcement, regulatory, or court requests should identify the issuing authority, legal basis, jurisdiction, scope, return contact, and any applicable confidentiality requirement. The Application Provider may require valid formal process and may challenge, narrow, or reject a request that is defective, overbroad, disproportionate, or inconsistent with applicable law.
Fileen is not an emergency communications service. A person facing an imminent threat, medical emergency, missing person, active crime, or immediate safety risk should contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement authority rather than relying on support email. The Application Provider may disclose limited information in a genuine emergency where permitted by law and reasonably necessary to protect life or prevent serious harm.
Where the Application Provider takes or considers action based on a complaint, it may permit an affected user, source, or party to provide a counterstatement, proof of authorization, explanation, or correction. The opportunity, timing, and information exchanged depend on the nature of the issue, legal restrictions, privacy, safety, and whether the Application Provider can identify or contact the affected party.
A counterstatement must be truthful and should include supporting evidence. The Application Provider is not a court and is not required to resolve complex ownership, licensing, defamation, privacy, contractual, or jurisdictional disputes. It may maintain a precautionary restriction while the parties seek an appropriate legal determination.
A person submitting a report represents that the information is accurate to the person's knowledge and that the process is being used for a legitimate purpose. False statements may expose the sender to legal liability. Threats, extortion, harassment, repeated duplicate claims, malicious attachments, and attempts to manipulate support personnel are prohibited.
The Application Provider may restrict communication, filter submissions, preserve evidence, or refer abusive conduct to a service provider or authority. Such action does not prevent a person from exercising a valid statutory right through an appropriate channel.
The Application Provider may deliver a legal or operational notice through the application, the legal section, an App Store product page, a version note, a website, or email where an address has been provided for the relevant purpose. A notice may be directed to all users of a release or to a person involved in a specific support or legal matter.
The user consents to receiving notices electronically to the extent permitted by law. The user is responsible for reviewing the legal section and installed-version information. A material change that requires separate consent will not be treated as accepted solely through a method that applicable law prohibits.
The Application Provider may receive and respond to communications in Arabic or English and may use translation assistance for another language. A translation is provided for convenience and may not capture every legal or technical nuance. The sender should identify any term whose precise local meaning is important.
The English and Arabic publication versions of this Procedure are intended to express the same substance. If an inconsistency cannot be reconciled, the English version prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law, subject to any mandatory rule requiring a local-language version to control.
The Application Provider may revise this Procedure to reflect changes in Fileen, its support channels, security practices, legal obligations, or product architecture. The effective date or version will be updated. A change does not create a server-side account, a public hosting service, or an obligation to retain user files.
Questions, notices, and reports should be sent to dev@fileen.net with an appropriate subject line. The sender should retain a copy and any delivery record needed for the sender's own purposes.
This Supplement applies to Fileen when acquired, installed, or used through Apple's App Store or on an Apple-branded product. It supplements the Fileen Terms of Use and the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement or other Apple usage rules that apply to the acquisition. It is not issued by Apple, does not alter Apple's agreements with the user, and does not imply that Apple sponsors, endorses, or is responsible for Fileen.
The user and the Application Provider acknowledge that the Fileen-specific agreement is concluded between the user and the Application Provider, not between the user and Apple. As between Apple and the Application Provider, the Application Provider is responsible for Fileen and for the developer-controlled content and functionality made available as part of Fileen, subject to the allocations of responsibility contained in Apple's agreements and applicable law.
The Application Provider is the person or legal entity identified as the seller or application provider on Fileen's App Store product page. Questions, complaints, or claims concerning Fileen may be directed to dev@fileen.net and to any additional seller or trader contact information that Apple displays for the Application Provider in the user's region.
Unless the App Store expressly identifies an effective custom end-user license agreement, Fileen is licensed under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, as supplemented by the Fileen Terms of Use and incorporated policies. The user must comply with Apple's applicable usage rules, family-sharing rules, volume-content rules, device rules, account rules, and other terms governing acquisition and use from the App Store.
No Fileen provision authorizes conduct that Apple's applicable agreement prohibits, and no Fileen provision reduces a mandatory right granted by Apple or law. If a Fileen term and an Apple term address different matters, each applies to its respective subject. If an unavoidable conflict concerns the App Store license or an Apple-controlled service, the Apple term controls to the extent required for that subject.
Subject to compliance with the Fileen Terms of Use, the Application Provider grants the user a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to use Fileen on Apple-branded products that the user owns or controls and as otherwise permitted by Apple's usage rules. Use by an account associated with the purchaser through a feature such as Family Sharing, volume acquisition, or another Apple-authorized arrangement is permitted only to the extent Apple's rules allow it.
Fileen is licensed and not sold. The user receives no title to the application, source code, protocols, design, trademarks, documentation, or developer-controlled services. Rights not expressly granted are reserved by the Application Provider and its licensors.
Except to the extent applicable law or an open-source license expressly permits an act notwithstanding a restriction, the user must not copy beyond permitted installation or backup, distribute, transfer, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, sell, host, commercially exploit, modify, translate, create derivative works of, reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, derive source code from, interfere with, or bypass integrity controls of Fileen or any developer-controlled component.
The user must not use an Apple entitlement, application identifier, distribution certificate, protected framework, private interface, or account credential in a manner not authorized by Apple or the Application Provider. The ability to observe network behavior or local files does not grant a license to reproduce or operate a developer-controlled service.
The Application Provider, and not Apple, is responsible for any maintenance or support that the Application Provider elects or is legally required to provide for Fileen. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance, technical assistance, file recovery, format support, source compatibility, or customer service for Fileen.
Support by the Application Provider is provided according to the Fileen Support, Rights Claims, Security Reports, and Legal Notices Procedure. The Application Provider may discontinue support for an obsolete version, modified device, unsupported operating system, third-party website, expired link, unavailable codec, or feature no longer present in the current release, subject to mandatory law.
Any warranty concerning Fileen is the responsibility of the Application Provider to the extent such warranty exists and cannot be disclaimed. If Fileen fails to conform to an applicable warranty and Apple's terms provide a remedy, the user may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price paid for Fileen, if any, in accordance with Apple's rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no further warranty obligation concerning Fileen.
All other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure of Fileen to conform to a warranty are allocated under the Fileen Terms of Use and applicable law. Nothing in this Supplement limits a non-waivable consumer remedy.
The Application Provider, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims concerning Fileen or the user's possession or use of Fileen, including product-liability allegations, claims that Fileen fails to satisfy an applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer-protection, privacy, accessibility, or similar law, except to the extent another allocation is required by law or an Apple agreement.
A claim concerning an Apple service, Apple account, App Store billing action, device hardware, iOS, iCloud, Photos, Files, or another Apple-controlled matter may need to be directed to Apple under Apple's support and legal procedures. The Application Provider cannot alter an Apple account, issue an Apple-controlled refund, recover an iCloud item, or change an App Store transaction except through mechanisms Apple makes available.
If a third party alleges that Fileen itself or the user's authorized possession and use of Fileen infringes that party's intellectual-property rights, the Application Provider, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, or discharging the claim to the extent required by the applicable Apple minimum terms and law.
This allocation does not make the Application Provider responsible for infringement caused by User Content, an unauthorized download, an external website, a user-selected source, a modification not supplied by the Application Provider, or use outside the license. Those matters remain governed by the Fileen Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy, the Terms of Use, and applicable law.
The user and the Application Provider acknowledge that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the provisions required for an App Store licensed application. After the user's acceptance, Apple may enforce those provisions against the user as a third-party beneficiary to the extent Apple's applicable developer terms require or permit.
No other third party becomes a beneficiary merely because Fileen can open its website, format, or service. A source or rights holder retains whatever independent rights it has under law and contract.
The user represents that the user is not located in, ordinarily resident in, or acting on behalf of a territory or person to whom the provision or use of Fileen is prohibited by applicable export-control or sanctions law, and that the user is not listed on an applicable government list of prohibited or restricted parties, except where authorized by competent authority.
The user must not export, re-export, transfer, provide, or use Fileen, its technical information, or any controlled functionality in violation of law or for a prohibited end use. The availability of Fileen in an App Store storefront does not override a legal restriction applicable to the user or transaction.
When using Fileen, the user must comply with applicable third-party terms, including the terms of a website, file host, cloud provider, internet service provider, mobile carrier, content license, file-provider extension, and other service used through or with Fileen. The user must not cause Fileen to access a service in a manner inconsistent with a binding agreement or source authorization.
A third-party term does not amend the Fileen license, and a Fileen term does not amend the third party's agreement. The user is responsible for resolving any inconsistency by refraining from the affected activity unless the relevant parties provide permission.
Acquisition, installation, re-download, family access, availability, territory, device compatibility, and updates may depend on the user's Apple account, storefront, operating-system version, hardware, and Apple's current services. Fileen does not control whether Apple permits a transaction, removes an application from a storefront, changes distribution rules, or makes a prior version available.
Deleting Fileen may remove local application-container data, and re-downloading the application does not guarantee restoration of that data. The user should preserve authorized files through an appropriate independent backup before removing the application or device.
Fileen may interact with Apple frameworks or interfaces, including document pickers, share sheets, Photos access, local authentication, background audio, media controls, notifications, Files integration, or device backup. Those services are operated under Apple's technical rules and privacy practices. Fileen receives only the access and results made available by the selected system interface and the user's permission.
Use of an Apple system feature may cause data to be processed by Apple, synchronized through iCloud, shown on another Apple device, or made available to another application according to the user's settings. The Application Provider does not represent that every Apple-controlled copy or system record is stored solely inside Fileen.
The App Store age rating is a content-distribution classification generated from information submitted through Apple's rating process and does not replace the contractual eligibility requirements in the Fileen Terms of Use. Fileen is intended only for persons who are at least sixteen years old and who possess the legal capacity or required authorization to accept the applicable terms.
Because an installed release may include an embedded browser capable of reaching open-web content, the content encountered through that browser is selected and supplied by independent websites and may exceed the nature or suitability of content created by Fileen. The user remains responsible for browsing choices and for complying with local rules and source terms.
As of the Effective Date, the described release displays third-party advertising in its free version and offers Fileen+, an automatically renewing subscription purchased through Apple's in-application purchase system. References in this Supplement to Apple billing, refunds, subscription management, family sharing, and paid applications therefore describe arrangements that are in effect, not hypothetical ones.
Apple is the merchant of record for Fileen+. Apple processes the purchase, the renewal, any price change, any cancellation, and any refund, and Apple's usage rules, billing terms, and account rules apply to the transaction in addition to the Fileen Terms of Use. A subscription is managed and cancelled in the user's Apple Account settings rather than within Fileen, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. The Application Provider cannot grant or guarantee a refund; a refund request is directed to Apple through Apple's applicable mechanisms and is decided by Apple under its own policies. Mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded in the user's jurisdiction are unaffected.
The prices, billing periods, and currencies presented to a user are those Apple supplies for that user's storefront and are read from Apple's purchase framework at the time they are displayed; they are not fixed in the application. Where family sharing is enabled for the subscription by Apple, Apple's family-sharing rules govern who may use the entitlement.
Advertising in the free version is supplied by a third-party advertising provider and is subject to that provider's own terms and privacy practices. Apple neither supplies nor endorses that advertising. An active Fileen+ entitlement removes Fileen advertising in its entirety. Section 16 of the Fileen Terms of Use and the Fileen Privacy Policy state what the subscription provides, how advertising is presented, what happens when an entitlement ends, and what the advertising provider states that it processes.
An update may add, remove, modify, or discontinue a feature, supported format, security requirement, or operating-system dependency. Apple may change APIs, privacy controls, background execution, file-provider behavior, codecs, hardware support, or App Store rules. The Application Provider does not guarantee that an old version will remain available or function indefinitely on a future system.
The user should install legitimate security and compatibility updates within a reasonable period and should preserve important files before updating. A modified, jailbroken, unsupported, beta, or managed device may behave differently and may not be supported.
To the extent Fileen is acquired by or for the United States Government, Fileen and its documentation are commercial computer software and commercial computer-software documentation and are licensed only with the rights granted to other end users under the applicable terms. Government users in other jurisdictions receive only the expressly granted rights, subject to mandatory procurement law.
No government acquisition expands the license, transfers source code, grants audit rights, or creates a support level unless the Application Provider agrees in a separate authorized writing.
This Supplement should be interpreted together with the Fileen Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Copyright and Acceptable Use Policy, applicable Apple agreements, and mandatory law. A provision that cannot lawfully be enforced will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary without invalidating the remaining provisions. Headings are for organization and do not narrow the operative language.
Questions concerning Fileen should be sent to dev@fileen.net. Questions concerning an Apple-controlled transaction, Apple account, device, operating system, or Apple service should be directed to Apple through the relevant Apple support channel.
